The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved the promotion of 2,339 personnel in its 2025 Senior Staff Promotion Exercise, reinforcing its commitment to career development and institutional stability.

The decision was taken at the Commission’s meeting held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, according to a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi.

Breakdown of the promotions shows that:

82 Chief Officers (GL 14–15) were elevated to Assistant Directors.

91 Assistant Directors (GL 15–16) were promoted to Deputy Directors.

45 Deputy Directors (GL 16–17) advanced to the rank of Directors.

Of the 45 newly promoted directors, 18 will remain in active service, while 27 are expected to retire shortly after their promotion, in line with public service regulations.

Additionally, 2,121 intermediate officers (GL 07–13) across various departments also benefited from the exercise.

INEC stated that the promotions were conducted in accordance with established guidelines and public service rules, reflecting its resolve to reward merit, dedication, and years of service.
