The Oyo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has disowned Chief Bisi Ilaka, rejecting claims of his appointment to the party’s Membership Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration (MRMR) Committee and warning of legal action against him.

Chief Ilaka, a former Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde, was accused by the party of misrepresenting himself as a member of the MRMR Committee, a move the ADC described as “fraudulent.”

In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Barrister Bimpe Adelowo, Ilaka was labelled an “impostor,” and both he and his backers were cautioned against interfering in the party’s affairs. The statement further indicated that the party would not hesitate to seek judicial intervention if the matter persists.

The ADC also criticised Ilaka’s political track record, noting his repeated but unsuccessful election bids. “Instead of learning from past defeats, he has chosen an undemocratic path driven by inordinate ambition,” the party said.

The statement apologised to party members and the public for any confusion caused and accused unnamed individuals, described as “political aliens,” of fostering crises and engaging in uncivilised political conduct.

The Oyo ADC emphasised that Ilaka is neither recognised by the state chapter nor nominated for any national assignment. According to the party, all official appointments from the National Headquarters must be formally sponsored by the State Chapter and transmitted through the State Chairman.

The officially nominated Oyo State representatives on the MRMR Committee are Mr Ayo Akinyemi (Chairman) and Professor Folake Tafita (Secretary), who have been properly inaugurated in Abuja.

The party reaffirmed its organisational strength, noting valid executive structures across all 33 Local Government Areas and 351 wards in Oyo State. Members of the public and party faithful were urged to disregard claims that Ilaka or his associates hold positions within the MRMR Committee.

The ADC encouraged members to focus on its ongoing online membership registration, which remains open for two weeks on the party’s official portal.

The Oyo chapter concluded by reiterating its commitment to attracting credible individuals while distancing itself from disruptive external influences.
