Chelsea manager, Liam Rosenior, has singled out winger Pedro Neto for praise following his side’s 2–1 defeat to Arsenal in Sunday’s Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal secured victory courtesy of goals from William Saliba and Jurrien Timber, handing Mikel Arteta’s men all three points in a keenly contested London derby.
Despite the loss, Rosenior commended Neto’s performance, noting that the Portuguese forward posed significant threats to Arsenal’s defence before his sending-off changed the course of the encounter.
The Chelsea manager expressed disappointment over the red card, which he said affected his team’s chances of mounting a comeback.
“It’s disappointing for Pedro; he’s a very good player and we want him on the pitch,” Rosenior said during his post-match interview.
“Until that moment, he was actually causing Arsenal so many problems. It is frustrating, not just for today, but because we are going to miss him against Aston Villa.”
Neto’s dismissal means he will be unavailable for Chelsea’s next Premier League fixture against Aston Villa on Wednesday, a development Rosenior admitted would be a setback for his side as they look to return to winning ways.
