Adeleke vows to complete projects, says attempts to destabilise Osun govt failed

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has declared that alleged efforts by political opponents to derail his administration have failed, reaffirming his government’s commitment to completing ongoing developmental projects across major towns in the state.

Speaking during the State Executive Council meeting held Thursday evening in Osogbo, the governor reviewed the performance of his administration, stating that the implementation of his five-point agenda had recorded significant progress across key sectors.

Adeleke said his administration survived what he described as a “siege” against the government and the people of Osun, attributing the resilience of his administration to divine support and the mandate given by residents of the state.

According to him, his government remains focused on delivering development and improving living standards, stressing that he serves only the collective aspirations of Osun people.

He said: “They plotted but God plotted for us. They were surprised that we survived the siege laid against our government and the people of Osun State. Our administration is standing strong because of God and the support of the people.”

The governor added that his administration was committed to rebuilding towns and villages while addressing infrastructural deficits inherited from previous governments.

He further stated that remaining challenges confronting the state would be overcome through sustained public support and effective governance.

On policy decisions, the Executive Council deliberated on the implementation of the Osun State Electricity Market Law and directed the Commissioner for Energy to submit a proposal for the establishment of a regulatory commission for the state’s electricity sector.

The council also commended ongoing payroll reforms, noting that the deployment of the World Bank-supported State Integrated Financial Management Information System (SIFMIS) had improved salary administration. It reaffirmed its rejection of the Sally Tibbot staff audit report.

In the education sector, the council approved March 1, 2026, as the resumption date for the first batch of newly recruited teachers and directed the Commissioner for Education to ensure compliance with the timeline.

The Executive Council also reviewed revenue and taxation matters, mandating the Ministry of Finance and relevant agencies to accelerate tax reforms and expand the state’s revenue base.

On traditional institution matters, the council constituted a five-member committee headed by the Secretary to the State Government to investigate alleged encroachment and violations affecting eight paramount rulers in the state and recommend corrective measures.

The statement conveying the outcome of the meeting was signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed.
