ADC Declares Readiness for Osun, Ekiti Governorship Polls

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Southwest Zone has affirmed its preparedness to contest the forthcoming governorship elections in Osun and Ekiti States.
The declaration was made by Honourable Rahman Owokoniran, National Vice Chairman of the party in the zone, during a zonal executive meeting held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the Ekiti governorship election for June 20, 2026, while the Osun governorship poll is slated for August 8, 2026.
Owokoniran emphasised the party’s commitment to membership registration, mobilisation, and expansion of its support base across the Southwest. He assured that all party stakeholders would be treated equally, stressing that no preferential treatment would be allowed.
The zonal executives vowed to deploy all available resources to ensure the party’s success in the two states. Key strategies highlighted included aggressive campaigns, polling unit monitoring, and comprehensive security arrangements before, during, and after the elections.
Party chairmen in the zone also reported progress on membership mobilisation, registration, and revalidation, noting challenges such as the availability of party membership cards.
In separate remarks, Alhaji Yinka Olona, Dr. Charles Omidiji, Honourable Rotimi George Taylor, and Dr. Babatunde Oke—Oyo State chairman, Osun State chairman, deputy national financial secretary, and national director of communication and programmes, respectively—called on members to remain active, work collaboratively, and ensure ADC secures a strong voter base to assert its leadership across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
