Makinde Holds Private Talks with Kwankwaso in Ibadan

Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday held a closed-door meeting with the National Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, at an undisclosed location in Ibadan.
A brief video shared by Oyo Affairs showed Makinde arriving at the venue, exchanging greetings with Kwankwaso and other attendees. Details of the discussions were not immediately disclosed.
The meeting comes weeks after Makinde, alongside former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, visited the Uphill Mansion of a former Military President in Minna, Niger State—a move widely interpreted as early political consultations ahead of the 2027 general election.
Kwankwaso, who recently returned from “strategic international engagements” in India, has also been in the news over reports of a proposed bill before the United States Congress recommending targeted sanctions against him for alleged religious freedom violations in Nigeria.
The outcome of the Ibadan meeting remains under wraps, but it is seen as part of ongoing political alignments ahead of the next general elections.
