Jonathan, Obasanjo, Gowon to Grace National Assembly Chapel Inauguration on March 1

Former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan, Olusegun Obasanjo, and former Head of State Yakubu Gowon are set to attend the inauguration of the Christian chapel at the National Assembly on March 1.

The 750-seat non-denominational worship centre, established by the Christian Legislators Fellowship, is expected to attract prominent Christian leaders, policymakers, and dignitaries from across the country.

Others slated to attend include Remi Tinubu, First Lady, Daniel Okoh, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Francis Oke, President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), and Matthew Kukah, Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese.

In a statement on Tuesday, Senator Binus Yaroe (Adamawa South) and Bamidele Salam (Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency), President and Secretary of the Fellowship respectively, said the chapel aims to deepen spiritual fellowship among Christian legislators and National Assembly staff.

The lawmakers added that the inauguration would provide an opportunity for thanksgiving and spiritual reflection for participants.

The chapel project was first initiated in May 2019, during the tenure of former Speaker Yakubu Dogara.
