Fubara Pledges Collaboration with Rivers Assembly Members

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed readiness to work closely with both ranking legislators and newly elected members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The governor’s remarks followed the recent by-elections held on February 21, which saw Ukalikpe Napoleon clinch the Ahoada East State Constituency II seat and Loolo Bulabari Henrietta emerge victorious in Khana State Constituency II.

Describing the wins as well-deserved, Fubara said the results reflected the confidence and trust of the electorate in the candidates.

“It is the beauty of democracy. When the people believe in your capacity, they will give you their votes,” he stated, adding that he looked forward to working with the lawmakers for the progress of the state.

The governor commended the residents of Ahoada East and Khana for their peaceful conduct before, during, and after the elections, noting that the process demonstrated democratic maturity in Rivers State.

The development comes shortly after the Rivers Assembly suspended impeachment proceedings against Fubara on February 19, ending a protracted political rift with his predecessor and Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, which had led to a six-month period of emergency rule in the state.
