President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has removed Kayode Egbetokun as the Inspector-General of Police and appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, as his replacement.
Though official confirmation from the Force Headquarters was still being awaited at press time, a senior police source disclosed that the appointment had been concluded, with a formal announcement expected shortly.
“It’s confirmed. AIG Tunji Disu is the new IGP. Official statement will be made soon,” the source said, adding that the development had received “double confirmation.”
Disu, a seasoned officer with extensive operational and administrative experience, is expected to assume office immediately.
