APC Allegedly Plots to Arrest Amaechi – ADC Chieftain Sounds Alarm

Sunday Ohakwu, a top chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State, yesterday raised the alarm over an alleged plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to arrest former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
Speaking in Abuja, Ohakwu said the move is aimed at weakening the opposition party ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing Amaechi as a leading presidential aspirant of the ADC.
“We have credible information that there is a coordinated plan to arrest our leader,” Ohakwu said. “The plot is reportedly being orchestrated by a top security official within the APC-led presidency and could be executed at any moment, unless plans change at the last minute.”
He claimed that in recent weeks, meetings were convened to identify “waterproof grounds” for anti-graft agencies such as the ICPC, EFCC, or DSS to prosecute Amaechi. Teams are allegedly scrutinizing state records, accounts, and properties in Rivers, Lagos, and Abuja to build a case.
According to Ohakwu, Amaechi’s tenure as Minister of Transportation under the Muhammadu Buhari administration is also being investigated for potential incriminating evidence.
“We want to make it clear that any plots against our leader are doomed to fail. Nigeria will not tolerate witch-hunts or intimidation of political figures,” he added.
Amaechi, former Governor of Rivers State, has been openly critical of the APC-led federal government and is pursuing the presidency under the ADC platform.
