Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has announced a temporary reduction in work hours for public servants to accommodate the ongoing Ramadan and Lent fasting periods.

According to Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Spokesperson to the Governor, “As part of the welfare packages of the State Government for its workforce, the Executive Governor has graciously approved that public servants should close work by 2pm from Mondays to Thursdays, and 1pm on Fridays, during the ongoing Ramadan and Lent seasons only.”

The circular emphasized that the adjustment is intended to support workers during the religious observances. Personnel on essential services, particularly in the medical sector, are exempted due to the critical nature of their duties.

Governor Adeleke explained that the move is also aimed at allowing civil servants adequate time to pray for continued peace and stability in the state, especially in the lead-up to the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

The Head of Service has directed all ministries, departments, agencies, local government councils, and political office holders to ensure compliance with the directive and to circulate the information widely among staff.
