A top chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kashim Imam, has officially severed his 36-year-long friendship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing conscience and faith as guiding factors.

Imam, who serves as Chairman of ADC Membership Registration and Revalidation and North East ADC National Leader, made the announcement in a video shared on X by Sulaiman Uwaisu Idris, popularly known as @KafinHausa.

In the video, Imam stated: “I was a close ally of Tinubu for 36 years, but today I have decided to part ways with him out of fear of God and a rejection of injustice.”

He did not spare the current administration in his remarks, describing it as deeply unjust. “Since the creation of Nigeria, I have never witnessed injustice like this one,” he said.

Imam further revealed that he now supports Atiku Abubakar in the pursuit of justice and national rescue.

“The nation is not poor; it suffers from poor leadership. Nigeria is rich – there is wealth everywhere, whether hidden or visible. Our major problem is injustice from those in power, and the level of injustice now is unprecedented,” he asserted.

Challenging the political influence of governors, Imam insisted that real power lies with the people. “As Sardauna said, even if all governors support Tinubu, it will not change the outcome. Governors do not vote. The poor hold the vote. This time, the people are seeking their rights; they know who genuinely serves them and who is wicked,” he said.

He concluded by expressing confidence that Nigerians would make the right choice in the upcoming elections.
