The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has condemned the recent terrorist attacks in parts of Niger and Kwara states, describing the incidents as tragic and unacceptable, while calling for intensified security operations against perpetrators and their collaborators.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Forum’s Chairman and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the governors expressed deep sorrow over the Saturday night attacks on Tunga-Makeri, Konkoso and Alissa communities in Niger State, where several residents were reportedly killed and others abducted.
The Forum commiserated with the government and people of the state, as well as families of the victims, noting that the wave of violence has inflicted severe pain and trauma on affected communities.
The NGF also extended condolences to the government and people of Kwara State over the terrorist incident in Woro, Kaiama Local Government Area, where dozens of residents were said to have been killed following their rejection of what the attackers described as a strange doctrine inconsistent with Islam.
The statement said the governors stand in solidarity with grieving families and survivors, while offering prayers for the safe return of those still missing.
The Forum praised security agencies for their courage and sacrifices in ongoing operations across troubled areas, urging them to intensify efforts and deploy the full weight of state authority to end terrorism, banditry and kidnapping nationwide.
It expressed confidence in the capacity of the armed forces and other security agencies to defeat violent groups and restore safety in affected communities.
