PDP Missing as 14 Parties Clear INEC Screening, Candidates’ Particulars Published for Osun Guber Poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that fourteen political parties successfully submitted the names and personal particulars of their candidates for the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State, with the Peoples Democratic Party notably absent from the compliance list released by the commission.

In a press statement issued on February 15, 2026, the commission said the update followed the conclusion of party primaries and the close of the portal for uploading candidates’ details within the stipulated timeframe.

According to the statement signed by the Public Affairs Officer, Musa Olurode, the parties that validly uploaded their candidates’ particulars are A, AA, AAC, ADC, ADP, APGA, APC, APM, APP, BP, NNPP, PRP, YPP and ZLP.

INEC said that in line with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2022 and the approved timetable of activities, the personal particulars of candidates contained in Form EC9, alongside their academic credentials and other supporting documents, will be displayed for public inspection.

The documents are scheduled for publication from Monday, February 16, 2026, at the state office and all 30 local government area offices, as well as the area office of the commission in the state.

The commission urged political parties, candidates and members of the public to examine the documents as provided by law, describing the exercise as part of measures to promote transparency in the electoral process.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Mutiu Agboke, reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to professionalism, transparency and the conduct of credible elections in line with legal and democratic standards, while calling on stakeholders to support its constitutional mandate.
