NNPP to Gov Yusuf: Probe El-Rufai’s Claims on Dadiyata’s Disappearance

The Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party has urged Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to immediately order a full investigation into the disappearance of social media commentator, Abubakar Dadiyata, following fresh allegations by former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

Dadiyata was reportedly abducted from his residence in 2019 in Kaduna, and his whereabouts have remained unknown since then, sparking sustained public concern and repeated calls for accountability.

El-Rufai, speaking during an interview on Arise News, claimed that Dadiyata was not a critic of the Kaduna State Government at the time of his disappearance but was instead critical of the Kano State administration led by former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. He further alleged that findings from earlier inquiries suggested the abductors came from Kano.

Reacting to the development, the NNPP, in a statement signed by its Kano State Publicity Secretary, Engr. Ibrahim Karaye, described the allegation as weighty and deserving of urgent official scrutiny by the state government.

The party said the matter must not be swept under the carpet, stressing that the governor had pledged during his campaign to confront injustice and uphold the rule of law.

According to the statement, any delay in launching a credible probe could fuel public suspicion that political considerations are being placed above justice and truth.

The call adds a new twist to the long-running controversy surrounding Dadiyata’s disappearance, which has drawn national attention and repeated demands for a transparent investigation.
