Armed bandits have reportedly killed a forest guard and abducted his wife during a fresh attack on Oba Isin community in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The incident, which occurred Wednesday night, is said to have thrown residents into panic as gunmen unleashed sustained gunfire across parts of the town.
Sources told Patriotic Insights News that the slain guard is the second victim in recent attacks linked to armed groups in the area. The latest killing comes after the death of Samuel Omotosho Olawuyi, who was earlier shot during a terrorist attack on Koro town in Ekiti Local Government Area of the state.
Residents said the attackers stormed Oba Isin at about 8 p.m., forcing many people to flee their homes, while others reportedly remained indoors for safety amid the chaos.
The attack was said to have occurred despite ongoing military operations aimed at flushing out bandits from communities in Kwara South Senatorial District.
As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the incident, while efforts to rescue the abducted victim were said to be ongoing.
