Aregbesola Salutes Ex-Osun Governor Oyinlola at 75, Praises Service and Leadership Legacy

Former Osun State Governor and ex-Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has congratulated his predecessor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, on the occasion of his 75th birthday, describing him as a leader of distinction with a remarkable record of military and public service.

In a tribute marking Oyinlola’s diamond jubilee, Aregbesola lauded the former governor’s contributions to national development, noting his steady rise in the military and his strategic roles in both military and democratic administrations.

He recalled that Oyinlola served meritoriously in the Nigerian Army, held key command positions, and represented the country in international peacekeeping operations. Aregbesola also highlighted Oyinlola’s tenure as Military Governor of Lagos State, where he said he demonstrated discipline and foresight in leadership.

According to Aregbesola, Oyinlola later made history in the democratic era by serving as civilian governor of Osun State, thereby earning the rare distinction of governing two different states under two separate political dispensations.

On a personal note, Aregbesola expressed gratitude for Oyinlola’s support during his 2014 re-election bid, describing it as memorable and significant.

He portrayed the celebrant as a man of firm character and principle, shaped by Omoluabi values, military discipline, and strong Christian faith. He added that Oyinlola’s commanding personality and leadership style have continued to leave a lasting impression on those who encounter him.

Aregbesola prayed for continued good health, strength and more years of meaningful service for the former governor, while extending warm wishes to him and his family on the milestone celebration.
