Operatives of the Kebbi State Police Command have neutralised a suspected armed bandit and recovered a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition during a dramatic shootout in Bagudo Local Government Area.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed that the Special Tactical Squad intercepted an unregistered Boxer motorcycle carrying two suspected armed bandits around 9:00 p.m. on February 4, 2026.
“The suspects opened fire on the operatives during a routine security check, prompting a gun duel. One of the suspects was neutralised on the spot, while the second suspect fled the scene with gunshot injuries. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect,” SP Usman said.
Recovered from the operation were 586 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, three AK-47 magazines, a camouflage uniform, a military-style bag, two mobile phones, N404,500 in cash, and the unregistered motorcycle used by the bandits.
The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Umar Mohammed Hadeija, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and urged residents to provide credible information to support security operations.
