WAFCON 2026: Super Falcons to Begin Abuja Camp Feb 20 Ahead WAFU B Tourney

Nigeria’s Super Falcons will open their training camp on February 20 as preparations begin in earnest for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The team, under the guidance of head coach Justine Madugu, will converge on Abuja for the first phase of camping before departing for Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, where they are scheduled to feature in the WAFU B invitational tournament.

The regional competition is billed to run from February 27 to March 7, with Ghana and Senegal also confirmed among participating nations.

Sources close to the team disclosed that the invitational tournament forms part of a broader build-up programme, which will also include a series of international friendly matches ahead of the continental finals.

WAFCON 2026 will double as the African qualifying tournament for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be hosted by Brazil, with the four semi-finalists earning automatic tickets to represent the continent.

The reigning African champions have been drawn in Group C, where they will face Zambia, Egypt and Malawi in the group stage.
