Grassroots Leaders Pledge Massive Support for Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election Bid

A forum of serving and former local government councillors in Nigeria has thrown its weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in 2027, pledging to mobilize millions of grassroots Nigerians in his favour.
The declaration was made at a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday by Dr. Evoh Ugochukwu, President of the National Councillors Forum of Nigeria, who spoke on behalf of 8,809 councillors from the 774 local government areas across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Dr. Evoh commended the Tinubu administration for key reforms, including the restoration of local government autonomy, enhanced grassroots funding and accountability, rural development initiatives, and expansion of social investment programmes. He noted that the administration has also invested heavily in infrastructure, agriculture, and security, describing these efforts as tangible achievements, not mere promises.
“Under President Tinubu, Nigeria has witnessed forward-looking leadership. Security has been strengthened through modernization of the Armed Forces, integration of intelligence and technology, and decisive measures against terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping,” Evoh said, adding that these interventions have created safer communities and boosted economic activities.
He further described the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda as a living reality felt across towns, villages, and wards nationwide.
Declaring the forum’s collective decision, Evoh said: “Based on facts, evidence, and the realities on the ground, we have reached a clear and unanimous decision. On behalf of 8,809 councillors, 176,836 polling units, and millions of grassroots supporters, we hereby declare our total, unwavering, and unconditional support for His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for re-election in 2027.”
Evoh urged all councillors, ward leaders, and grassroots mobilizers to organize a nationwide campaign to enlighten citizens about the administration’s achievements and ensure widespread support for Tinubu’s second term.
The declaration was jointly signed by Hyacinth Horvel Turnoe, National Coordinator, ST/HT Grassroots Coordinators of Development, and Chief Okorie Ikechukwu Raphael, National Coordinator, Citizens Network for Peace and Development.
