AI Smear Campaign: Oshiomhole Disowns Viral Private Jet Footage

Senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, has dismissed as fake a viral video that allegedly shows him massaging the feet of a South African influencer aboard a private jet, describing the clip as a product of artificial intelligence manipulation.
The short video, which spread widely across social media platforms including X, Instagram and WhatsApp, captured a scene of a man resembling the former Edo State governor seated opposite a woman on a luxury aircraft, with her feet resting on his lap.
The footage triggered heated reactions online, with some Nigerians questioning the senator’s conduct, while others warned about the rising threat of digital misinformation and doctored media.
Responding to the development on Wednesday, Oshiomhole flatly denied the authenticity of the clip, insisting it was fabricated to tarnish his image.
He said the video was generated using advanced AI tools and urged members of the public to be wary of unverified online materials.
According to him, emerging technologies now make it easier to create highly realistic but misleading visuals capable of deceiving viewers and damaging reputations.
Despite his denial, public opinion remains divided, with supporters pointing to the growing sophistication of AI-generated content, while critics have called for independent verification to establish the truth.
