Osun APC targets one million votes for Tinubu in 2027 poll

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has declared its intention to deliver no fewer than one million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

A former Commissioner for Information in the state and Osun Ambassador for the Renewed Hope Agenda, Sunday Akere, made this known on Tuesday in Osogbo during the inauguration of Local Government Ambassadors of the Renewed Hope initiative.

Akere said the target was achievable with effective grassroots mobilisation, noting that Osun has close to two million registered voters but historically records low voter turnout during elections.

According to him, the newly inaugurated ambassadors have been mandated to drive mobilisation, outreach and voter engagement across all local government areas to boost participation in future elections.

“We are working towards delivering at least one million votes for President Tinubu in Osun. With nearly two million registered voters, it is unacceptable that fewer than 500,000 people often turn out to vote,” he said.

He explained that the ambassadors are expected to intensify sensitisation campaigns on the programmes and achievements of the Tinubu administration, regardless of party affiliation among residents.

Akere added that the immediate assignment before the group is to work for the victory of the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), in the August 8, 2026 governorship election.

Also speaking at the event, APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji urged the ambassadors to remain committed to the party’s goals and ensure victory at both the state and presidential polls. He encouraged eligible residents to register as voters and participate in the party’s ongoing membership registration exercise.

South West Renewed Hope Ambassador, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, charged the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them through sustained grassroots engagement and public enlightenment on federal government initiatives aimed at improving citizens’ welfare.

The Renewed Hope initiative is a political and policy outreach framework promoting the programmes of President Tinubu’s administration across the country.
