Gunmen Storm Ora-Igbomina Community, Abduct Two Residents

Unknown gunmen on Sunday night reportedly abducted two residents of Ora-Igbomina, a community on the Osun-Kwara boundary.

According to sources within the community, the attackers struck at a private residence along Aran-Orin Road, Papa, Ora-Igbomina, just minutes before midnight.

The incident comes less than two months after an ex-Customs officer, Emmanuel Owolabi, was kidnapped in the same community by suspected bandits. Owolabi was later released on January 12, 2026, in Oro Ago, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, following the payment of ransom.

A resident, identified only as Mulikat, told Patriotic Insights News that the abductors opened fire into the air before dragging the victims into the bush. She said, “We heard gunshots around 11:30 p.m. The gunmen entered a house along Aran-Orin Road and picked up two men. Some men tried to pursue them but could not follow into the bush. We suspect these are bandits.”

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of Osun State Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the command had launched a search and rescue operation.

Ojelabi disclosed, “The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. on Sunday. Our men had been on patrol but returned to base when it started raining. It was during this period that the criminals carried out the attack. Tayese Adeyeye and Sunday Adewumi were abducted. Our search and rescue teams are combing the area to secure their release.
