Uba Sani Hails Abbas, Says Kaduna Govt, Reps Speaker Working in Partnership for Development

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has described the relationship between the Kaduna State Government and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, as a model of cooperative governance driven by shared vision and commitment to the people’s welfare.

Sani said the collaboration between both arms of government has strengthened development efforts and deepened public trust in leadership through people-focused initiatives.

The governor spoke on Sunday at a constituency empowerment programme organised by Speaker Abbas at the Nuhu Bamalli Stadium in Zaria.

According to him, the partnership is rooted in mutual respect and a common resolve to deliver tangible benefits to citizens.

“We are partners in progress. When leaders work in harmony, development accelerates and confidence in public institutions is reinforced,” the governor said.

At the event, Abbas distributed 850 motorcycles and 30 vehicles to various beneficiaries, including teachers, religious leaders, polling unit heads, community support groups and security personnel. Sports centres across Zaria Federal Constituency were also commissioned as part of the programme.

Governor Sani said the empowerment initiative reflects the Speaker’s belief that public office must translate into measurable improvements in the lives of the people.

“Democracy finds its true meaning when it delivers dignity, opportunity and hope. This programme is anchored on productivity, inclusion and human wellbeing,” he stated, adding that the intervention demonstrates what purposeful leadership can achieve.

In his remarks, Speaker Abbas said the empowerment programme was designed to strengthen grassroots structures and improve service delivery across the constituency.

He explained that earlier phases of the programme focused on skills training and financial grants for women and youths, while the latest phase targets mobility and community infrastructure support.

He said the motorcycles were distributed to enhance efficiency and ease of movement for teachers, clerics, grassroots political actors and security personnel.

“Improved mobility reduces hardship and boosts effectiveness. Teachers can reach schools more consistently, religious leaders can engage wider communities, and security personnel can respond faster,” Abbas said.

The Speaker also presented 30 vehicles to political support groups aligned with President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani, citing their loyalty and organisational role in party development.

He noted that strong political structures remain vital for stability, mobilisation and governance.

Abbas further stressed the importance of sports development, saying newly commissioned sports centres would promote discipline, teamwork and youth engagement across communities.

Earlier, Governor Sani commissioned a 100-kilowatt solar mini-grid project in Damau, Kubau Local Government Area, ending over a decade of electricity shortage in the community.

He said the project, executed through a partnership involving the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), the National Assembly and the Kaduna State Government, would boost economic activities, healthcare delivery and education.

“For years, residents lived without electricity, limiting businesses, healthcare and learning. This mini-grid changes that reality and restores productivity,” he said.

The governor commended Speaker Abbas, REA Managing Director Abba Aliyu, and Rep. Aliyu Mustapha Abdullahi, representing Kubau/Ikara Federal Constituency, for their roles in delivering the project, noting that it demonstrates the gains of executive-legislative collaboration.
