The Kwara State House of Assembly, on Friday, approved a total budget of N656.5 billion for the 2026 fiscal year, representing an increase of N10.5 billion over the initial proposal submitted by the executive.
The approval followed the consideration and adoption of the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation on the 2026 Appropriation Bill at plenary.
Presenting the report, Chairman of the committee, Mrs. Arinola Fatimoh Lawal, said the upward review was the outcome of legislative scrutiny and adjustments made in the overall interest of the state.
The session was presided over by the Speaker, Engr. Yakubu Danladi Salihu.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had, in December 2025, presented a budget estimate of N646,004,816,893 to the House for consideration and approval.
With the passage of the revised figure, the state’s 2026 budget now stands at over N656.5 billion, reflecting an increase of N10.5 billion from the original proposal.
The Assembly thereafter passed the bill into law.
