Dorayi Killings: Father Demands Speedy Execution of So

The father of Umar Auwalu, the prime suspect in the murder of a housewife and her six children in Dorayi, Kano State, has called on the government to ensure a swift trial and execution of his son if found guilty.

Mallam Auwalu made the appeal on Monday during a local radio programme in Kano, describing the suspect as a danger to society.

He said, “People like Umar, my son, should not be allowed to live among decent citizens. They should be eliminated to guarantee a sane and peaceful environment.”

Speaking in Hausa, the distraught father also alleged that his son might have been responsible for the killing of the junior sister of the deceased housewife last month.

“I strongly suspect that Umar was behind that earlier murder. He may have committed many other crimes we are not aware of. Now that he has been arrested, justice must take its full course,” he said.

Mallam Auwalu urged security agencies and the judiciary not to delay the trial, warning that any prolonged detention could create room for undue interference.

“I don’t want the government to waste time on this matter. If he spends too long in prison, some politicians may intervene and seek his release. That will not be good for our society,” he added.

The Kano State Police Command had last week paraded Umar Auwalu following his arrest in connection with the gruesome killings that shocked residents of Dorayi community.
