2027: Kaduna Mobilises 2.5m APC Members as Sani Backs Tinubu

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has declared that the state is fully committed to President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, citing visible development projects and growing public confidence in the administration.

The governor spoke on Sunday during a stakeholders’ engagement on the ongoing electronic registration of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he disclosed that Kaduna was targeting no fewer than 2.5 million registered members.

Sani said Tinubu’s policies and interventions had delivered tangible benefits to Kaduna and other parts of the country, stressing that this had triggered mass movement from opposition parties into the APC.

He maintained that the ruling party had become the dominant platform in the state as a result of inclusive governance and strategic federal support.

Projects fueling support

According to the governor, collaboration between the state and the Federal Government has produced landmark projects, including the Kaduna light rail scheme, which recently received N1 billion support from Abuja.

He noted that apart from Lagos, no other state had enjoyed such backing for a rail project, describing it as a vote of confidence in Kaduna’s development agenda.

“Only three weeks ago, I was in China with the director-general of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership at the instance of President Tinubu. Kaduna has been selected as the pilot state for a major poultry project that will generate at least 350,000 jobs,” Sani said.

He added that the Federal Government had approved $200 million for the project, which he described as the largest poultry initiative in sub-Saharan Africa, with groundbreaking expected within weeks.

The project, he said, would empower about 10,000 small and medium-scale businesses connected to the poultry value chain.

Roads, climate projects underway

The governor also commended Tinubu for approving the reconstruction of the Mando–Birnin Gwari and Kwoi–Jema’a roads, describing them as critical economic corridors.

He disclosed that additional projects were captured in the 2026 budget through collaboration with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajuddeen Abbas, particularly for Kaduna North Senatorial District.

Sani praised the Minister of Environment, Balarabe Lawal, for facilitating climate-related interventions under the ACRESAL programme.

“In the next one or two months, we will commence a N53 billion project in Zaria and Rigasa to tackle erosion and environmental challenges, made possible by the minister’s efforts,” he said.

Grassroots mobilisation

The governor had earlier held similar meetings with APC leaders from Zone 2 on Saturday, covering Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Chikun, Kajuru, Igabi, Birnin Gwari and Giwa councils.

On Sunday, he met stakeholders from Zone 1 – Zaria, Sabon Gari, Soba, Makarfi, Kubau, Kudan, Ikara and Lere – and later engaged leaders from Zone 3 in Southern Kaduna.

Sani expressed confidence that with the ongoing projects and mobilisation drive, Kaduna would emerge among the top states in APC e-registration nationwide.
