The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the immediate promotion of more than 2,000 civil servants across Abuja, The Nation reports.
Lere Olayinka, spokesperson to the minister, disclosed that the promotions followed examinations conducted between November 25 and 29, 2025. Beneficiaries include workers from the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
Speaking on the exercise, Emeka Ezeh, Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, said the promotions cut across 165 cadres in the service. He described the move as a “clear demonstration of Wike’s commitment to staff welfare and career progression.”
Ezeh further urged civil servants to prepare early for the 2025 and 2026 promotion exercises, noting that only diligent and hardworking officers would benefit.
The FCT Civil Service Commission chairman also confirmed that future promotion examinations would be conducted via computer-based tests (CBT), a measure aimed at strengthening the digital platform for career advancement previously approved by the FCT minister.
