Oluwole Oke: Conclude Teachers’ Recruitment or Refund Fees in Seven Days

Hon. Oluwole Oke, the House of Representatives member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, has given the Osun State Government a seven-day ultimatum to either conclude the long-delayed recruitment of secondary school teachers or refund all application fees collected from applicants.

Speaking in a statement on Wednesday, Hon. Oke expressed deep concern that thousands of qualified applicants, who paid fees nearly two years ago, are yet to be employed. He described the delay as “unacceptable” and “a denial of justice to hardworking young Nigerians.”

The lawmaker directed the state government, led by Governor Ademola Adeleke, to take immediate action by either:

Completing the recruitment process, reinstating teachers disengaged by the current administration, and ensuring fair deployment alongside new recruits, or

Refunding all application fees in full to the affected applicants.

He warned that failure to comply within the seven-day timeframe would compel applicants and stakeholders to pursue all legal avenues to seek redress.

Clarifying further, Hon. Oke noted that the recruitment of primary school teachers is the statutory responsibility of Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs). Any fees collected outside this legal framework, he said, are unlawful and must be refunded without delay.

“Governance must be anchored on accountability, the rule of law, and compassion for young Nigerians seeking legitimate employment,” he stressed.

The statement was issued by the Public and Media Communication Unit on behalf of Hon. Dr. Busayo Oluwole Oke, Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
