Nasarawa South Senator Ogoshi Onawo Exits PDP, Cites Personal Reasons

Senator Ogoshi Onawo, who represents Nasarawa South in the National Assembly, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a letter dated January 10 and addressed to the PDP chairman of Galadimawa Ward, Doma Local Government Area, Onawo announced that his resignation takes immediate effect.

“I write to formally notify you of my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Galadimawa Ward, Doma Local Government Area, with effect from today, 10th January, 2026,” the senator stated. “This decision has been taken after careful consideration and is purely for personal reasons.”

Onawo expressed gratitude to the party leadership and members for the support and platform he received during his time in the PDP.

“I remain deeply grateful for the trust, cooperation, and support I received throughout my time in the party,” he said, adding, “Please accept my appreciation and best wishes for the continued progress and success of the party.”

Although Onawo did not reveal his next political destination, he has been linked to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) after attending one of the party’s meetings in July 2025.

His resignation comes amid growing speculation about the realignment of political forces in Nasarawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
