Atiku, Tambuwal responsible for PDP’s woes — Fayose

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has blamed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal for what he described as the gradual destruction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Fayose made the allegation on Friday during an interview on Politics Today, a political programme aired on Channels Television.

According to him, the internal crises currently rocking the PDP are self-inflicted, insisting that personal ambitions and political manoeuvres by key actors weakened the party’s cohesion and public credibility.

“Politics is not fair, and life itself is not balanced,” Fayose said. “Everyone stands where they believe they can tell Nigerians the truth. I am not contesting any election and I am not asking anybody for favour.”

The former governor also spoke on the lingering political tension in Rivers State between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, expressing surprise at the fallout between the two leaders.

Fayose disclosed that he was present at the swearing-in ceremony of Governor Fubara and recalled advising him against betraying his political benefactor.

“I was on the high table the day Governor Fubara was sworn in, and I told Wike that I wanted to say one or two things to Fubara — that he should not betray you,” Fayose said.

He warned that unresolved political disagreements, if not carefully managed, could deepen divisions within the party and further erode public trust ahead of future elections.
