Adeleke welcomes EFCC, ICPC review of Osun staff audit

Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has welcomed calls on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to review the controversial staff audit report submitted by consultancy firm, Sally Tibbot Limited.

In a brief reaction on Saturday, Adeleke said the anti-graft agencies were free to scrutinise the report, stressing that what would be reviewed was the payroll and personnel structure inherited from the immediate past administration of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola.

According to the governor, his administration neither expanded nor altered the personnel and payroll framework it inherited, adding that the audit exercise was carried out on the system that existed under the Oyetola administration.

“Our administration did not and has not expanded the personnel and payroll structures inherited from the last administration. What was audited was the payroll and personnel structure under Oyetola’s administration,” Adeleke said.

He maintained that his government should be commended for refusing to act on recommendations that would have led to the dismissal of legitimate workers, describing such proposals as motivated by personal gain.

“We stopped a likely fraud even while pushing to clean up the system. We therefore welcome the call on the EFCC and the ICPC to review the audit report submitted by Sally Tibbot Limited,” the governor added.

Adeleke also advised officials of the previous administration to be prepared for the outcome of the review, insisting that his government has nothing to hide.

The governor’s position was conveyed in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, in Osogbo.
