Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described Rivers State as a shining example of political unity, saying the state has successfully brought together members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in support of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wike spoke on Sunday during a thank-you visit to Ahoada West Local Government Area, where he commended the people of the state for rising above partisan divisions in the interest of collective progress.
According to the former Rivers State governor, politics in the state has evolved beyond rigid party loyalties, giving rise to what he termed the “Renewed Hope Family,” a broad coalition committed to national development.
He said the cooperation among political actors in Rivers, which he likened to a “rainbow alliance,” distinguishes the state from others and reflects a shared sense of purpose anchored on unity rather than party identity.
Wike urged other states across the federation to emulate Rivers’ inclusive political approach as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.
He maintained that Rivers’ political strength lies in the resolve of its people to pursue common goals, irrespective of party affiliation, adding that the state remains a model of organic unity.
Reaffirming his support for President Tinubu’s re-election, the minister expressed confidence that the prevailing spirit of cooperation in Rivers would endure, noting that the state stood firmly with Tinubu even at a time when many doubted his electoral prospects.
