Honourable Dr. Busayo Oluwole Oke, the Member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency of Osun State in the House of Representatives, has urged Nigerians to embrace national unity and give maximum support to government policies for sustainable development in 2026.
In a New Year message to his constituents, party members, associates and Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, the lawmaker described the new year as a season of gratitude, reflection and collective resolve to strengthen the nation.
Oke, who chairs the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, said despite economic and social challenges, Nigerians have continued to display resilience and an unyielding spirit, expressing optimism that 2026 would bring renewed opportunities and progress.
“I congratulate my dear constituents in Obokun and Oriade, our party faithful in the All Progressives Congress and indeed all Nigerians on the gift of a new year. I pray that 2026 will usher in good health, peace and prosperity for every household across the country,” he said.
The federal lawmaker noted that the new year offers another opportunity for citizens to recommit themselves to nation-building, stressing that governance thrives best when citizens actively support policies and programmes designed to improve collective welfare.
According to him, governance should be seen as a shared responsibility between leaders and the people, adding that reforms can only yield meaningful results when citizens engage constructively and cooperatively.
Oke also called for continued support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the ongoing reforms as bold steps aimed at repositioning Nigeria for long-term economic stability and sustainable growth.
He acknowledged that reforms may come with short-term challenges but maintained that their ultimate goal is to build a stronger economy and a more resilient society that works for all Nigerians.
The lawmaker further urged Nigerians to continue to pray for leaders at all levels, noting that leadership requires encouragement, goodwill and cooperation to succeed.
“While accountability is essential, our leaders also need prayers and understanding. Leadership can only thrive in an atmosphere of trust and shared purpose,” he added.
He also advised Nigerians to celebrate the new year with moderation, urging citizens to be mindful of prevailing economic realities and to conduct festivities responsibly.
Oke concluded by wishing Nigerians a peaceful and fulfilling year, expressing hope that 2026 would bring renewed optimism, unity and progress to the country.
