Adeleke’s Spokesman Blasts APC Aspirant Over Claims on Governor’s Credentials

 

The Spokesperson to Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, has fired back at a former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rafiu Durodoye, over what he described as “reckless misinformation” on the educational qualifications of the governor.

Rasheed, reacting to a recent interview in which Durodoye questioned Governor Adeleke’s academic background, dismissed the claims as baseless and politically motivated, describing the APC chieftain as a “shameful professor of disinformation.”

According to the spokesperson, Atlanta Metropolitan College, where Governor Adeleke graduated, is an accredited institution in the United States owned by the Georgia State system, stressing that it is “better equipped than most public universities in Nigeria.”

He said the attempt to cast doubt on the governor’s credentials only exposed what he called Durodoye’s shallow understanding of issues and late entry into Osun politics.

“Atlanta Metropolitan College parades top-class faculty with years of distinguished scholarship in the United States,” Rasheed said. “The educational qualifications of Governor Ademola Adeleke have been validated, authenticated and verified both locally and internationally.”

Rasheed added that all relevant documents relating to the governor’s education were scrutinised and cleared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other statutory bodies, insisting that the matter had long been settled.

“I listened to the interview of Mr Durodoye and he did not sound like a real professor,” the governor’s spokesman said. “He spoke in a manner unbefitting of someone who claims such an academic pedigree. Even the interviewer had to correct him on basic issues.”

He further noted that Governor Adeleke’s performance in office was clear evidence of his competence and capacity, arguing that governance outcomes mattered more than political mudslinging.

“Governor Adeleke has demonstrated the impact of his education through performance and delivery where many before him failed,” Rasheed stated. “If Mr Durodoye thinks he can gain relevance by attacking the governor, he should know that such a strategy has failed repeatedly in the past.”

The spokesperson urged the opposition to focus on addressing its dwindling public support rather than engaging in what he described as “garage-style politics.”

“Durodoye is a political greenhorn,” Rasheed added. “He should first learn the rudiments of politics instead of embarrassing himself in the public space.”
