WAEC Kicks Off 2026 CB-WASSCE Registration for Private Candidates

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially opened registration for the 2026 Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for private candidates.

In a statement shared on X, the examination body advised prospective candidates to visit any WAEC office, major commercial banks, or accredited registration partners in their locality to complete the process.

“Registration for CB-WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2026 — First Series is ongoing. Visit any of our offices, major commercial banks, or accredited partners to register,” WAEC stated.

The council introduced the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) format in 2025 as part of efforts to modernise its examinations and enhance efficiency. Since then, it has been gradually transitioning key assessments, including the CB-WASSCE, to the digital platform.

Speaking at a recent press briefing, the Head of WAEC Nigeria, Amos Dangut, said the move aims to strengthen examination integrity and curb malpractice.

“This initiative is part of a broader paradigm shift in the education sector, focusing on modern test administration techniques to uphold the academic and moral integrity of the National Policy on Education, in line with the Federal Ministry of Education’s vision,” Dangut said.

Interested candidates are encouraged to take advantage of the registration window for the first series of the 2026 CB-WASSCE.
