The Federal Government has announced the commencement of the recruitment exercise for 50,000 police constables, aimed at strengthening the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and enhancing community policing nationwide.

The Police Service Commission (PSC) confirmed that the recruitment portal will open on Monday, December 15, 2025, and remain accessible until Sunday, January 25, 2026.

PSC Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Kalu, explained that the recruitment drive targets two categories of applicants: General Duty and Specialists.

For the General Duty cadre, applicants must possess GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO, or equivalents, with a minimum of five credits including English Language and Mathematics in not more than two sittings.

The Specialists cadre requires at least four credits in GCE O-Level, SSCE/NECO, or equivalents, plus a minimum of three years’ relevant work experience and trade-specific tests.

Kalu outlined the general eligibility requirements: applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth, aged 18–25 years for General Duty and 18–28 years for Specialists. Candidates must also be medically, physically, and psychologically fit, with height requirements of 1.67m for males and 1.64m for females (General Duty only).

All applications are to be submitted through the official portal: www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng. The PSC emphasised that the process is free and strictly merit-based, warning applicants to avoid fraudsters demanding payment.

Kalu encouraged qualified Nigerians to take advantage of this opportunity to serve the nation, describing the exercise as part of efforts to expand the NPF and promote public safety across the country.
