Adeleke Clinches Accord Ticket, Unveils 5-Point Agenda for 2026 Osun Polls

Governor Ademola Adeleke has officially emerged as the governorship candidate of the Accord Party for the 2026 Osun State election following a primary held in Osogbo. The primary, monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and observers, saw the governor score 145 votes, while five votes were voided.

Being the sole aspirant, Adeleke accepted the nomination, assuring that his track record and the widespread goodwill he enjoys across the state will secure victory for the party.

On the occasion, the governor unveiled an upgraded five-point agenda for the upcoming election:

1. Integrated citizens and workers’ welfare

2. Infrastructure consolidation for economic prosperity

3. Agro-industrial expansion for youth empowerment

4. Innovations in health, education, and social care

5. Improved business environment for job creation

Speaking to supporters, Adeleke said, “We are launching the battle for continuity of progress, good governance, and democratic dividends. Our administration has delivered on promises, and we remain committed to advancing the journey of modernization in Osun State.”

He also challenged his political opponents to run on their records, noting that his administration has significantly improved state performance. “Under my leadership, Osun rose from 33rd to 7th in national examination ratings, reduced infrastructure deficit by over 40 percent since 2022, cleared more than 40 percent of inherited debt, and led the South West in access to primary healthcare,” Adeleke highlighted.

The party’s National Chairman, Barr. Maxwell Mgbudem, who presented the certificate of return to the governor, praised the primary as a testament to Accord’s internal democracy and expressed optimism about Adeleke’s re-election prospects in 2026.
