The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to meet today to consider and ratify the report of the Osun State Screening Appeal Committee on seven governorship aspirants previously disqualified from the party’s December 13 primary election.
The five-member appeal panel, chaired by Senator Tolu Odebiyi, concluded its review after meeting with the aspirants over two days. The committee’s recommendations will now be submitted to the NWC at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja for final decision.
Those seeking reversal of their disqualification include former National Secretary of the APC, Senator Iyiola Omisore; former Deputy Governor Benedict Olugboyega Alabi; Dotun Babayemi; Akin Ogunbiyi; Senator Babajide Omoworare; Kunle Adegoke (SAN); and Babatunde Haketer Oralusi.
The screening committee, led by Barrister Obinna Uzor, had cleared Hon. Mulikat Jimoh and Bola Oyebamiji, stating they met all constitutional and electoral requirements. The remaining seven aspirants were referred to the NWC for a final decision.
A member of the appeal panel described the proceedings as “constructive,” noting that each aspirant presented supporting documents and arguments in a cordial, family-like atmosphere.
The APC has also scheduled its delegate congress for December 9, with corresponding appeals on December 10, ahead of the governorship primary slated for December 13.
