Ologbondiyan Quits PDP, Poised to Join ADC Coalition

Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan, has resigned his membership of the party, ending decades of political association with Nigeria’s main opposition platform.

Ologbondiyan announced his departure in a letter addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Okekoko Ward 9 in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State. He offered no specific explanation for his decision but attributed it to “personal reasons” after what he described as a careful review of his continued participation in the party.

“Let me start by thanking you and the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the privilege to serve the party and our fatherland,” he wrote.

“It is now imperative to bring to your attention that I have reviewed my participation in the PDP and, for personal reasons, I have decided to make my exit. I therefore formally withdraw my membership of the PDP henceforth.”

The PDP has been contending with internal disputes that have triggered a wave of defections across several states and local structures.

Following his resignation, Ologbondiyan is expected to formally pitch his tent with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the opposition coalition formed in June and steadily attracting political heavyweights ahead of the next electoral cycle.
