DSS Arrests Doctor Supplying Kidnappers with Medical Drugs in Kwara

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a medical doctor for allegedly transporting pharmaceutical drugs to kidnappers operating in Kwara State.

According to a statement by Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, the doctor was intercepted in Jebba, Moro Local Government Area, while ferrying the drugs from Sokoto State to hideouts used by the criminal gangs.

The DSS noted that the kidnappers appeared to be in urgent need of medical attention, reportedly due to gunshot wounds sustained during recent clashes with security forces.

The statement further urged authorities to strengthen security measures in health facilities, particularly those located in densely forested areas that may be vulnerable to attacks by criminal elements.

“The Department of State Service has taken into custody a medical doctor who was transporting drugs from Sokoto State to kidnappers in parts of Kwara State,” the statement read. “The arrest followed intelligence reports on the activities of kidnappers and their couriers. Criminal gangs appear desperate for medical care following injuries sustained in encounters with security forces. Relevant authorities are advised to enhance security in health facilities, especially those in thickly forested areas that may be targeted.”

The DSS continues to monitor the situation closely to prevent further incidents and ensure the safety of communities in affected areas.
