“Madness Will Meet Madness” — Makinde Vows to Punish 2027 Election Rigging

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Monday delivered a stark warning to political actors plotting to manipulate the 2027 governorship election, declaring that any attempt at electoral malpractice would be met with “madness.”

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, Makinde cautioned that Oyo voters are now politically astute and will resist any effort to undermine their choice.

The governor, who noted that preparations for his administration’s transition are already underway, warned that attacks on his person or attempts to politicise his tenure would fail.

“In 2027, other players will be in the race. If anyone thinks attacking Seyi Makinde or politicising this issue will sway voters, they should think again. The people of Oyo State are wiser,” he said.

Makinde stressed that the decision on his successor belongs solely to the electorate, not political godfathers or those claiming entitlement.

“If you think you can rig the gubernatorial elections in Oyo State in 2027, think again. Were la n fi wo were — madness will meet madness,” he warned.

The governor’s latest statement reinforces his earlier position that the people, and not political elites, will determine who succeeds him in 2027.
