Ex-Reps Member Urges U.S. to Deploy Advanced Tech Against Terrorists

A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Zakari Mohammed, has appealed to the United States to deploy advanced technological capabilities to locate and neutralise terrorist cells operating within Nigeria’s forests.

Mohammed made the call on Friday while speaking on Prime Time, an Arise Television programme monitored by Patriotic Insights News.

He argued that Nigeria, though a sovereign nation, must embrace strategic cooperation with global powers capable of assisting in modern counter-terrorism operations.

According to him, the sophisticated satellite surveillance and long-range strike systems available to the U.S. could help identify and eliminate terror enclaves without the need for physical troop deployment.

“With the kind of satellite coverage and advanced equipment they have, the Americans already know where these terrorists are hiding in our forests,” he said.
“Technology can be deployed to neutralise them without kinetic intervention. Some missiles travel across continents. The world has moved beyond traditional warfare.”

Mohammed stressed the need for Nigeria to pursue deeper defence partnerships, especially as insurgent groups have evolved into complex, franchised organisations.

He referenced the recent killing of a Brigadier-General and other military personnel, questioning how the officer’s location became compromised.

“How did that sensitive information leak? That is what we should be interrogating as a country,” he said.
“Training an officer of that rank takes years. In a sane environment, we should already be hearing of consequences. Heads should roll to deter others.”

Mohammed insisted that accountability and intelligence reform are essential if Nigeria is to turn the tide against terrorism.
