The Federal Ministry of Interior has announced that, effective December 1, 2025, it will no longer accept physical letters, handwritten applications, or any form of manual correspondence. The move is part of the Federal Government’s push toward digital transformation in public service delivery.

In a statement, Permanent Secretary Dr. Magdalene Ajani said the directive is aimed at modernising administrative processes and enhancing efficiency. She noted that the Ministry has approved two official channels for digital submissions:

Dr. Ajani warned that any correspondence sent outside these platforms will not be processed, urging all Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs), organisations, partners, and members of the public to comply fully with the new directive.

“The Ministry’s full transition to electronic communication aligns with the Digitalisation Reform Pillar of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP 2025), as well as the recent mandate from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation,” she stated.

The Ministry described the digital shift as a decisive step to strengthen transparency, improve service delivery, and advance the Federal Government’s long-term vision of a fully digitalised public service ecosystem.

Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to leveraging technology to drive efficiency and modern governance.
