Tinubu Redeploys Musa Adar, Appoints Shagari NIWA Chairman

President Bola Tinubu has approved the redeployment of Musa Adar as Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), replacing Ogbonnaya Orji, who has served since 2021.

Adar moves from his former position as Chairman of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), where he has served in recent years. To fill the vacancy, Mukhtar Shagari, former Minister of Water Resources, has been appointed as the new NIWA chairman.

A statement by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Federation (OSGF), said both appointments take immediate effect.

President Tinubu urged the newly appointed and redeployed officials to demonstrate patriotism and leverage their wealth of experience to strengthen transparency, accountability, and effective service delivery in their respective agencies.

In related comments, Kayode Oladele, Acting Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), noted that the Tinubu administration’s appointments are guided by constitutional principles of equity and national balance. Currently, the North holds 56.3 percent of federal leadership positions, while the South accounts for 43.7 percent, he added.
