Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has rejected claims of his expulsion from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing the move as a “premature political witch hunt.”
The PDP had announced Wike’s expulsion alongside former National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu and former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose during its national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The motion for their expulsion was moved by Chief Olabode George, former National Vice Chairman (South), and seconded by Hon. Samaila Burga, PDP Chairman in Bauchi State.
However, Wike’s spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, dismissed the announcement, calling it “a sham orchestrated by intoxicated members.” According to him, the expulsion effort was “nothing but an attempt to start ‘dirty December’ in November.”
He added, “When people decide to initiate their own political theatrics prematurely, one cannot take seriously whatever comes out of their mouths.”
The development further deepens existing divisions within the PDP, as the party approaches the 2027 general elections.
