The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday took a hard stance on internal discipline as its 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, ratified the expulsion of several prominent members over alleged anti-party activities.
Those affected include former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose, former National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, legal luminary Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), and former federal lawmaker Hon. Austin Nwachukwu, among others.
The decision, endorsed by an overwhelming majority of delegates, was presented as a crucial step toward restoring cohesion within the opposition party as it recalibrates for the 2027 general elections.
Party leaders said the expulsions were aimed at halting the persistent internal sabotage that has undermined the party’s electoral fortunes in recent years.
