Ekiti PDP Chieftains Urge Makinde to Halt Moves Against Oluyede’s Primary Victory

Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State have appealed to Oyo State Governor and Southwest PDP leader, Seyi Makinde, to intervene and halt alleged moves to upturn the outcome of the party’s governorship primary that produced Dr. Wole Oluyede as candidate.

Speaking at a press conference held at the PDP secretariat in Ajilosun, Ado-Ekiti, the party leaders — Hon. Deji Ogunsakin, Hon. Segun Adeola, Makanjuola Ogundipe and Kola Oluwawole — described the primary as free, fair, and credible, warning against any attempt to tamper with its results.

They said, “Dr. Wole Oluyede remains the authentic choice of Ekiti PDP members. The people have spoken through the ballot, and we are determined to win the June 20, 2026, governorship election with him as our flag bearer.”

The leaders alleged that some individuals within the party were plotting to impose another candidate despite Oluyede’s clear victory.
“Enough is enough,” they said. “We will not allow anyone to sell out the PDP to the APC. The ruling party knows Oluyede is a threat to their hold on power in Ekiti, hence the desperation to create confusion within our ranks.”

According to them, the primary election, supervised by former Gombe State Governor and ex-Accountant General of the Federation, Senator Ibrahim Dankwabo, was conducted under a peaceful and transparent atmosphere.

Meanwhile, Dr. Oluyede has paid a courtesy visit to one of his co-contestants, Mrs. Funmilayo Ogun, describing her as “a supportive sister and a loyal party woman.”

In her response, Ogun commended Oluyede’s outreach and assured that her actions were driven by a desire to promote peace and unity within the PDP ahead of the 2026 poll.

She said, “Our focus should be on strengthening the party to reclaim Ekiti. Unity is the key to victory.”
