Former Interim National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande, has said President Bola Tinubu is resolutely committed to protecting Nigeria’s natural and economic resources from foreign exploitation and internal sabotage.
Akande, who spoke in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, during the maiden edition of the Joel Babatola Annual Lecture organised by the Ekiti Council of Elders, delivered a lecture titled “Governance, Structural Reforms and the Economic Landscape of Nigeria in the 21st Century.”
He explained that the Tinubu administration is steering the nation through a reform-driven agenda aimed at strengthening national unity, promoting technological advancement, and empowering young Nigerians through human capital development.
“The President is focused on strengthening Nigerian unity against indigenous retrogressive saboteurs and neo-colonialist grumblers,” Akande said. “He is also determined to extricate the country’s resources from illegal foreign exploitations, at least for now, pending the fury of threatened invasion from global powers and international municipalities.”
The elder statesman added that Tinubu’s development blueprint emphasises rapid infrastructural expansion, particularly in the areas of transportation and electricity, through strategic partnerships between the private sector and various levels of government.
According to him, the administration’s initiatives are designed to accelerate agricultural and industrial processing while ensuring the seamless movement of goods between rural and urban centres.
Akande’s remarks came amid heightened global tensions following a recent statement attributed to former United States President Donald Trump, who reportedly threatened military intervention in Nigeria over alleged persecution of Christians in the northern region.
The former Osun State governor, however, maintained that the Tinubu administration remains unwavering in its commitment to economic sovereignty, national security, and unity.
