Trump Is a Petty-Minded Dictator — Soyinka Blasts U.S. President Over Visa Revocations

Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has taken a swipe at United States President, Donald Trump, describing him as a “petty-minded dictator” following the mass revocation of visas and green cards under his administration.

Soyinka, whose own U.S. visa was recently revoked, made the remark in an interview with BBC News Pidgin streamed on Facebook on Wednesday.

According to the renowned playwright, he was not taken aback by Trump’s actions, saying he had foreseen such measures even before Trump assumed office.

He said: “This is a petty-minded dictator. You can see how he deals with his objects of hate. We saw that dark side of the American system — there were more killings, extrajudicial killings by the police of black people and minorities during that period, all because of the hate rhetoric of this individual.”

Soyinka added that Trump’s leadership exposed deep divisions within the United States, particularly around race and identity politics.

“I said it long ago, and you can check it — that when that man comes to power, the first thing he will do is cancel even the green cards,” he stated.

The Nobel laureate’s comment comes amid widespread criticism of Trump’s immigration stance and his recent statements perceived as targeting African nations.
